How to Install WHMCS Through Softaculous


WHMCS is a popular web hosting management and billing software that helps businesses manage their hosting services and automate billing processes. Softaculous is an auto-installer for cPanel and DirectAdmin that simplifies the process of installing various web applications, including WHMCS. This guide will walk you through the steps to install WHMCS using Softaculous.


Before you begin, ensure you have the following:

1. A hosting account with cPanel access.
2. Softaculous installed on your cPanel. Softaculous is provided free of charge on your hosting panel.
3. Domain name where WHMCS will be installed.

Installation Steps

Step 1: Access your web hosting panel

Log in to hosting panel by using the details in the New Account Information email. Alternatively, login to the client portal, navigate to the applicable hosting package and login to the hosting panel.
If you're using cPanel, navigate to the Software section or search for Softaculous Apps Installer. If you're using DirectAdmin navigate to the Extra Features section and click on Softaculous Apps Installer.

Step 2: Find WHMCS

In Softaculous, find the Search box, usually located at the top right corner.
Type "WHMCS" and press Enter. WHMCS should appear in the search results.
Click on the WHMCS software from the list to open the installation overview page.

Step 3: Install WHMCS

On the WHMCS overview page, you will see an Install Now button. Click on it to begin the installation process.
Choose the version of WHMCS you wish to install. The latest version is recommended for security and functionality.
Choose Protocol: If you have SSL, it is recommended to choose https:// or https://www. If you do not have SSL, choose http:// or http://www.
Choose Domain: Select the domain where you want to install WHMCS from the dropdown menu.
In Directory (optional): If you want to install WHMCS in a specific directory, enter the directory name. Leave this field blank to install WHMCS in the root directory of your domain.
Fill in the Site Settings, including the Site Name and Description.
Admin Account: Create an admin username, password, and admin email. This information will be used to manage your WHMCS installation.
Choose Language and other settings as per your preference.
Advanced Options: Configure database name, backups, and other advanced options as needed.
Review all settings, and click on the Install button at the bottom of the page.

Step 4: Completion and Access

Softaculous will start the installation process. Wait for it to complete; this may take a few minutes.
Once the installation is complete, Softaculous will provide you with the administrative URL and the client area URL for your WHMCS installation.
Access the WHMCS admin area using the provided URL and log in with the admin credentials you created during the installation process.

Post-Installation Recommendations

Secure your WHMCS installation: Change default admin directory name, use strong passwords, and configure SSL.
Configure your WHMCS: Set up payment gateways, products/services, and automation settings according to your business needs.
Update WHMCS regularly: Keep your WHMCS installation updated to the latest version to ensure security and stability.
